The Development Of Music In Malaysia & The Music Interaction Between Taiwan And Malaysia
Shane TAN is one of the directors of the local indie label “Dongtaidu” in Malaysia, who has strongly promoted Malaysian independent music culture and its music festival in order to have the young generation identify the influence and cultural connection of independent music. Tan has been involved in the indie music scene for years but does not ask for anything in return. His long-term journey beginning as an audience, a participant and to a curator has been more than 10 years; what he has done is to emphasize that music is not just the melody of songs but the attitude of songs. A curator is like an artist who plans, executes, and promotes the curation; the final product is to showcase your creation. Performing as a brand and medium, he has made all the effort to introduce good foreign music to the Malaysian market and to let everyone enjoy all the excellent domestic and overseas independent music. Meanwhile, he realized that he cannot complete this great work alone; actually, he needs the young generation to support and jointly work for this significant musical mission. Under this idea and insistence, in 2019, he holds the City ROARS! Festival jointly with two groups, the indie label Emerge Music from Taiwan and the local indie label Soundscape Records. He does not just lead the Malaysian bands to perform for the concert tour in the Asian Cities, but he is also a major behind-the-scenes force in promoting most of Taiwan’s indie bands to perform at the Malaysia music festivals or have a stop of the concert tour in Malaysia.

What Ai LIJIMA Influences In My Life & How To Market The “Hormone”
43 CHANG was born in 1967, in a small farming village, not on the seafront, on the western coast of the Chianan Plain. One night in the early summer, a dazed and confused period of his green days, while he looked at these musical notes, suddenly, the inspiration appeared in his mind, he picked up the guitar and played it, and then he created the amazing melody through this musical instrument. That summer night in 1989 was the turning point that he started the music composition.
In 1998, Chang founded a local indie label “Taiwan Colors Music” while he had a dream of socialism and wanted to learn from capitalism. The days of 30-year-old were the time that he was full of passion and loved adventures; so he collaborated with Taipei County Government ( now designated as New Taipei City Government) to hold the first session of “Ho-Hai-Yan Gongliao Rock Festival” at the Fulong Beach. As he was turning 40, the romantic mood became part of his life and then he founded the “Love Love Rock Festival”. Turning 50, he fell in love with the aesthetics of common people so he founded the “Taiwan Color Stage Fest”. It has been over 20 years of the foundation for Taiwan Colors Music, time changed, but the limited financial support and resources still remained; however, music has become part of his life and he still gets guts in dealing with every new challenge.

Share The Experience of Thailand’s Musical Development & How Taiwan’s Music Enters Into The International Market
Yuthana BOONORM is the president of Thailand’s GAN 555 Entertainment Company; he previously hosted the TV program and worked as a radio presenter; he has operated the music label and music magazine, and has been renowned for founding the Big Mountain Music Festival, the largest music festival in Thailand. In 2017, he first collaborated with Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards to advance on the musical interaction between Thailand and Taiwan.
Yuthana said, in Thailand, CD sales remain the main profit of the music industry, secondly the live shows. Therefore, nowadays in Thailand, the indie bands are in a difficult position because they have neither the bargaining chips nor sites to hold the live performance, which is similar to the conditions in Malaysia. There are just 20-percent albums from the new indie singers or bands in the market, even though those indie performers can market their music through the popular social media platforms like YouTube and Apple Music. However, Boonorm deeply believes that the excellent music creation is the main key point to enter into the music market; the most obvious situation is that K-pop has broken into the South-Eastern market with obstacle-free communication; he has high expectations for more amazing music creations from Taiwan’s music industry. Boonorm considers music that is a kind of common languages to bring varied-race people together.

The Key Point Of K-pop’s Success, The Promotional Activities For BTS’ Debut Album On The Entertainment Scene, And The Opportunities And Methods For The Development Of Taiwan’s Music And Bands In Korea!
Kwon Kyoung Mi
Kwon Kyoung Mi, a Korean lady previously working in Taiwan’s Rock Records for 8 years, has brought Korean and Taiwan’s singers together, such as Tarcy SU, Yuki HSU, and Wakin CHAU; after leaving the Rock Records, she joined the Universal Music Korea and took charge of the entertainer’s business management, publicity management, and marketing and planning business. Actually, there were not enough candidates at that time, who can speak both Korean and Chinese and work in the entertainment scene as well. Under this circumstance, most of Taiwan’s singers collaborated with Kwon while they want to release the albums in Korea. Meanwhile, as the famous Korean drama “Winter Sonata” hit in Asia, Kwon became Taiwan’s contact window to handle the related business. After that successful project, Kwon got new projects, a Korean popular drama “You’re Beautiful” and the Korean record label FNC Entertainment’s hit band “FTISLAND”, whose vocalist starred in the drama “You’re Beautiful”, and introduced these Korea entertainment works into Taiwan’s market. Following up, Mari started her own business, including establishing the record label Ocean Star Music and setting up the entertainment business management studio. She not just planned for the collaborations between Korean and Taiwan’s performers, but also handled the Korean entertainers’ promotional activities in Taiwan, including the promotional activities for BTS’ debut album on the entertainment scene, Kim Woo-Bin’s fan meeting, and introducing Courage Brothers to compose a song for Landy WEN. Her successful experience made her renowned in Taiwan, so the organizer of the 29th Golden Melody Awards has invited her to be the VIP of the Korean side and make a speech as well.
